Paradox of our Times

“Today we have bigger houses, but smaller families. We have more degrees, but less common sense. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We love too little and lie too often. We have learned how to make a living, but not a life. We have added years to our lives, but not life to our years. We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers. We have been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet our neighbours. We have conquered outer space, but not inner space. We have higher incomes, but lower morals. These are the times of taller people, and short character. More kinds of foods, but less nutrition. Two incomes, but more divorce. Fancier houses, but more broken homes.”
