Zero

This world is full of luring temptations and dangerous attractions. Human being is surrounded by growing tentacles of harnessing relations which may be blood born or created. These relations are entangled with alternating passions of love and hate. In life, there is unending desire for collecting more and more useless possessions. We go on foolishly embracing our collections may be human or material. We get easily involved and sometimes intimately with the events, situations, circumstances, relations. In academics, we are obsessed with avariciously obtaining worthless degrees after degrees, to add as suffix after the name and apparently being satisfied after adding ‘Dr.’ as prefix to the name and thus swelling the name tag to its maximum capacity. Ever increasing ambitions and rat race in this fast world of Internet and communication technology are acting as slow poisons, making human being prematurely old. Man is running after shadow and not substance.

We go on searching happiness in all these nonsense things. Nothing is constant in this mortal world. If we want to be really happy, we will have to learn, imbibe and follow, in letter and spirit, the principle of ‘nonattachment’ advised in ancient sacred scripture Bhagwad Gita. Leaf of Lotus is always surrounded by water but never becomes wet; just like that life should be lived. ‘Anasakti’ as advised in the same scripture is helpful in this regard. We should learn to be witness to the things which happen around us and affect us, though it is very difficult to separate the perceived and the perceiver. But, only this lesson can give us peace of mind.

Real joy, moments of bliss may be found in simple things like an unexpected breeze of air, pacifying music, old song, eating few slices of a fruit, company of our real well wishers and listening or reading, in simple form, philosophy and secrets of life, say in the words of Saint Tukaram, Saint Kabir, Osho.

After all, Life is Zero. Somebody's life may be small zero and somebody else's life may be big zero; small or big zero makes no difference!
